I am currently getting back into the area of ARF. I am hoping you can give me some guidance. My son and I both took the initial Certification class for ARF. Because we worked for an agencies that requested we obtain certification. I understand that all Administrator need the 40 hour requirement. But I am seeking advised whether I should go back through the initial class once again. Since I was certified on 1/9/2004 and did not take the required re-certification classes for the required hours afterwards. Or is there a way I may obtain the require hours for reinstatement.

I receive/see the updates for free on the state CCL page (which is also saved as one of my favorites on my computer). In addition, I added this site to my "Professional Caregiver Blog". So, in order to be in compliance, I have to subscribe to a services that charges a fee?

Those are excellent suggestions. I have found some residents will drink the acai juice better if watered down a bit. What a great healthy focus you have! Thanks for the comments.

Please add jello to your fluid rich suggestions and mona vie juice , the most super power antioxidant with acai berry fruit.

At present time, I am taking care of client with diabetes and he goes to dialysis 3x/week. He is limited to fluid intake of 32 ounces a day that include coffee, juices, water and soup as per doctor order.

It depends in the individual. Many physicians will encourage six to eight 8 ounce glasses per day. However, for residents with a fluid restriction, that could be dangerous. To be safe, consult with the resident's physician.

Ed, Good info thank you. Question: I had thought all mattresses had to have a plastic liner and a quilted pad over that so as not to sleep on the plastic and then the bottom sheet. There was a time when the LPA actually checked every bed in my community to see that it was so. Has this changed? Why do you say, "not in all facilities and not with all residents"? Susan
