California DSP Training
We often receive questions in our office about DSP training requirements. DSP (Direct Support Professional) training is required by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) for employees and administrators who provide direct care to persons with developmental disabilities in a community care facility (ARF, RCFE, Group Home, etc).
The training is divided into two 35 hour segments that are completed over a two year period. However, individuals may take a challenge test for each segment. Persons that pass a challenge test do not have to complete the training for that segment. The training and challenge tests are based on competencies and skills required for successful DSP performance.
DSP training is provided by Regional Occupational Centers and Programs (ROCP). For more information on training times and locations, contact the local ROCP coordinator for your area.

I work at El Camino College, Community Education. We are getting calls for Administrative for Adult Residential Facilities or Administrative Group Homes Certifications. Do you have people who can teach that course as a not-for-credit course but for certification or re-certification.
